Photograph Series, 1898 - 1918
Scope and Contents
Series contains various military photographs, primarily from WWI. The bulk are press photos, mostly captioned, but include some reconaissance/intelligence photos. 1 photo, with a mounted duplicate, shows General Joseph Wheeler, Colonel Leonard Wood, and Colonel Theodore Roosevelt at the time of the Spanish-American War. Other photographs are grouped in series including naval photos showing mining and anti-submarine activities near Scotland and Ireland in 1918, naval railroad guns, aerial photos of the Argonne Sector, and various other war scenes and contemporary portraits of admirals, generals and other officers and political leaders.
