Box 6: Robert Hinckley, Sr. and Thomas Hinckley, 1897 - 1947
Scope and Contents
Papers of Robert Hinckley, noted portrait artist. Included is correspondence written by Robert to his brother Henry Hinckley, 1897 - 1898; correspondence from his son, Robert O'Donnell Hinckley, 1919 - 1920, concerning a trip through the Orient; and correspondence from Gladys Hinckley Werlich concerning her father's painting of the first ether operation. This series also includes the papers of Thomas Hinckley, consisting primarily of correspondence to his family concerning his involvement in mining operations in the West (1905 - 1911), as well as his foreign service posts in San Salvador, Vienna, Madrid and Rome from 1914 - 1918. Also included is official correspondence concerning his appointment to the foreign service.

Conditions Governing Access
Most manuscripts collections at the Georgetown University Booth Family Center for Special Collections are open to researchers; however, restrictions may apply to some collections. Collections stored off site require a minimum of three days for retrieval.
