 File — Box: 1, Folder: 7-8

Scope and Contents

From the Series:

This series contains correspondence and documents by and about members of the Kilmer family, especially Joyce Kilmer, Aline Kilmer, and Kenton Kilmer. There is some correspondence with notable individuals, including Ada Alden, Joseph Auslander, Charles B. Falls, Robert C. Holliday, Henry M. Meacham, George N. Shuster, and Jerry Vogel. A variety of original documents by and about Joyce Kilmer are preserved, including manuscripts, poems, letters, ephemera, clippings, photographs, and army documents. In addition, material by and about Aline Kilmer is present: poems, letters to and from her, and photographs. There are materials relating to Kenton Kilmer, too, most notably those deriving from his work as poetry editor for the "Washington Post" in the 1940s. In this series, Kenton Kilmer's correspondence stretches into his later life. A limited amount of information by and about other Kilmer family members; such as Frederick B. Kilmer, Sister Michael Kilmer, and Frances P. Kilmer; is also present.
