Autobiographical, mentions Stephen Crane, Arthur Brisbane, William Randolph Hearst, etc. In Man's Estate, by Edwin Emerson. Original manuscript, written by Emerson in the same blank book mentioned above, 180 pages, in pencil. Includes the Stradivarius violin case. See item 4. Laid in: autograph letter signed by Emerson, Emerson Ranch, California, November 1950, to Ames W. Williams, mentioning these manuscripts and asking about John S. Mayfield and their common friend, George Edward Woodberry (1855-1930). All contained in an expanding wallet, annotated by Emerson in pencil. With original envelope addressed by Emerson to Williams.
