Scope and Contents
In Man's Estate / The World and I, by Edwin Emerson. Typewritten, carbon on thin orange paper, 108 pages, with numerous corrections and additions by Emerson in pencil and ball point pen. Contained in an Acco Press binder. This story relates to Emerson's criminal court reporting in New York City during the 1890s, and particularly to a case of a stolen Stradivarius violin. With a one-page autograph letter signed by Emerson to Ames W. Williams, Thanksgiving, 1950, referring to this story and to Arthur Train's account of the case. See item 6.
