Contains letter from Briefs to his first wife, Anne Weltmann, at the time he was exiled from Hitler's Germany. Of interest regarding the German situation, first impressions of the United States. Also contains transcript of letter from Johann Plenge to Erwin Geldmacher (then Rector of the University of Cologne) regarding philosophy and the Third Reich.
