Biographical / Historical
Warren studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh, but left this pursuit to study for the English bar, at which he was successful. Early in his career, he began to write for Blackwood's Magazine, and produced very popular, if highly criticized, works. He was especially known for his sketches of farcical characters. Warren also wrote several legal works of note.
