Collection of manuscript poems by 56 minor British poets. Includes prose and 3 photographs. Poets include: Alfred Austin, Mary Elizabeth Braden, "Alfred Crowquill," Francis Jeffrey, J. Sheridan Knowles, Lord John Russell, Charles Augustus Sala, and Martin F. Tupper.

Biographical / Historical

Story was a Northumberland poet whose chief work was that of a schoolteacher followed by working in the Audit Office in London. He composed poetry from a young age; his poetry was very popular in the north of England as well as Scotland, where he was compared to Burns.
