Collection of manuscript poems by 56 minor British poets. Includes prose and 3 photographs. Poets include: Alfred Austin, Mary Elizabeth Braden, "Alfred Crowquill," Francis Jeffrey, J. Sheridan Knowles, Lord John Russell, Charles Augustus Sala, and Martin F. Tupper.

Biographical / Historical

Sillery, born in Athlone, Ireland, and after a short naval career, settled in Edinburgh to study surgery at the University of Edinburgh. He did not graduate, and died 8 years later in 1837.Sillery published 7 volumes of verse in his short life, 3 of which were of a deeply religious disposition.
