Collection of manuscript poems by 56 minor British poets. Includes prose and 3 photographs. Poets include: Alfred Austin, Mary Elizabeth Braden, "Alfred Crowquill," Francis Jeffrey, J. Sheridan Knowles, Lord John Russell, Charles Augustus Sala, and Martin F. Tupper.

Biographical / Historical

Sala, born in Londond, was a painter, illustrator, and writer. His work was published in distinguished journals and newspapers, including The Daily Telegraph. He also published many volumes of fiction, travels, and essays and edited various other works. He struggled with his finances despite his large income, and in 1895 was forced to sell his library, and died later that year.
