Most manuscripts collections at the Georgetown University Booth Family Center for Special Collections are open to researchers; however, restrictions may apply to some collections. Biographical / Historical
Richard Monckton Milnes, 1st Baron Houghton of Great Houghton, was an English politician, poet, and man of letters. He served as a member of Parliament from 1837-1863 and was made a peer in 1863. Milnes was highly regarded by his contemporaries for his Wordsworthian poetry, and was also known as a great patron to many writers including Tennyson, Emmerson, and Swinburne.
