Collection of manuscript poems by 56 minor British poets. Includes prose and 3 photographs. Poets include: Alfred Austin, Mary Elizabeth Braden, "Alfred Crowquill," Francis Jeffrey, J. Sheridan Knowles, Lord John Russell, Charles Augustus Sala, and Martin F. Tupper.

Most manuscripts collections at the Georgetown University Booth Family Center for Special Collections are open to researchers; however, restrictions may apply to some collections. Biographical / Historical

Born in Sheffield, Yorkshire, Holland began publishing poems at a young age. While working as a Sunday School teacher, he composed religious poetry and hymns. In 1825, Holland was appointed as editor of the Sheffield Iris, moved to edit the Newcastle Courant in 1832, and then became co-editor of the Sheffield Mercury in 1835. Throughout his life he wrote numerous journalistic works, books and poems.
