Most manuscripts collections at the Georgetown University Booth Family Center for Special Collections are open to researchers; however, restrictions may apply to some collections. Collections stored off site require a minimum of three days for retrieval. Biographical / Historical

Capern was born in Devon to a baker, and worked in a lace factory and then as a letter-carrier. Capern's poetry became popular in the Devon area; he became known as "the Devonshire Burns".
