Collection of manuscript poems by 56 minor British poets. Includes prose and 3 photographs. Poets include: Alfred Austin, Mary Elizabeth Braden, "Alfred Crowquill," Francis Jeffrey, J. Sheridan Knowles, Lord John Russell, Charles Augustus Sala, and Martin F. Tupper.

Biographical / Historical

Baring-Gould was born to an esteemed family in Devon, an spent much of his youth travelling Europe and attended by private tutors before becoming an Anglican priest. He published prolifically, and was most known for hymns, although he also published carols, novels, and a book of folk songs.
