Scope and Contents
The papers of Ora Patience Lumpkin Mayfield are contained in 5 boxes. Box 1 comprises correspondence only. Box 2 contains memorabilia collected by Ora Mayfield, and the arrangement is alphabetical. The third (3) box holds greeting cards and photo albums of family and friends while box 4 contains diaries and books. The last box (5) holds two (2) Tyler Rose commemorative plates.

Conditions Governing Access
Most manuscripts collections at the Georgetown University Booth Family Center for Special Collections are open to researchers; however, restrictions may apply to some collections. Collections stored off site require a minimum of three days for retrieval. For use of all manuscripts collections, researchers are advised to contact the Booth Family Center for Special Collections in advance of any visit.

General
Laura Alexander to her cousin, Martha Dial Shook and from Martha Shook to Laura Alexander. Interesting insight relating to Texas life of the period; a December 4, 1914 letter from Anna D. Hearne to her cousin with references to a Rex Beach, a professional writer of the period, Middleton Press, her government appointment as an "Income Tax examiner", and the horrors of WWI. A July 5, 1915 letter makes reference to "society" & the class one is born into.
