War veteran Oliver Lockett (Negro) (shell-shocked veteran of WWI) was awarded compensation bonus for his service. Part of compensation was 50 acre farm which fell in "greatest oil field in Texas". Lockett declared "incompetent" and quarrel ensued over the guardianship of Lockett and his property. "A minor public scandal" 1941 - 1942.
