Phelps, commanding officer, U.S. Navy (12/6/1912; TLS from Hovey, (12/7/1912): "My dear Mr. Green, Did you get a "detail for detached duty" or merely a "leave of absence" from the Department for the time necessary to go on the Crocker Land Expedition? I hope that it is the former..." 2. pp.133-159, includes ALS to FG from W. Elmer Ekblaw on letterhead for the Acacia Fraternity (12/9/1912): "My dear Mr. Green, A letter from Dr. E.O. Includes 3 newspaper clippings pasted to the last typed page of the memo. c. TLS to FG from Stefansson (1/29/1913) re procuring leave from the Navy Department for a young applicant interested in joining Stefansson's expedition. Includes TLS reply from FG (1/31/1913). 12. pp.253-262 blank. 13. pp.263-279, includes TLS from MacMillan to FG (1/26/1913) re securing meteorological equipment; typed memorandum from FG to U.S. Secretary of the Navy re orders for surveying equipment, 1/15/1913; ALS to FG from his "Aunt Marie" expressing concern for the "fearful trip" he was about to embark on in joining the Crocker Land Expedition, and that he should tell his "dear little mother at once, and not allow her to find it out from the papers or from other people..." 14. pp.281-290 blank.
