1 Typed Letter Signed dated 12/28/1898 from John Addison Porter to Aaron Homer Byington, expressing the President's thanks for Byington's letter of the 6th. The President would like to have Rear Admiral Walker, who was looking into a possible interoceanic ship canal on the Isthmus, give his opinion. Porter will forward any criticisms for confidential use. Discusses Senate race in Connecticut between Hawley, Bulkeley, and Fessenden. Porter says that his trip with the President to the South was a success and that an extra session of Congress seems unlikely. Sent from Executive Mansion, Washington to Consul of the United States, Naples, Italy.
