Container Summary

Legal paperwork surrounding official transfer of Parthenon Heights into the names of James C. Rogers and Cora R. Clarke. J. Harris Rogers put the title of the property into the name of The Rogers Telegraph and Telephone Company in the 1890's, but after the company faded away, he sold the property to his sister, A. Mae Rogers, who lived in the house, maintained it and paid property taxes on it until her death in 1936. Upon the settlement of her estate, her brother and executor, James C. Rogers, found that the property still legally belonged to the old company. The heirs to the estate, James C. Rogers and Cora R. Clarke filed suit against the company and finally obtained title to the property in July 1941, one month before the death of James C. Rogers.
