Container Summary

The J. Harris Rogers Notebooks Series consists of 23 handwritten notebooks kept by J. Harris Rogers between the years 1882 and 1929, recording experiments, ideas, and real estate transcations. The series also includes 1 diary (1916-1917) kept by A. Mae Rogers while she lived in Hyattsville with her brother. This diary is probably the best day to day account of J. Harris Rogers' experimental work at any time and even includes photos of Rogers in the laboratory. Insight into Rogers' processes of discovery and invention can be seen in his own notebooks, however, and most of them are very disorganized, and entries are usually undated and unlabeled.
