From the Collection:

The Rogers Family Papers consist of fifteen series, the first being on the Rogers & Clarke families in general, and the remainder focusing on the papers of individuals such as James Webb Rogers I, J. Harris Rogers, James Charles Rogers, Cora Rogers Clarke, Phillips H. Clarke Jr., Mae Harris Clarke and George E. Sullivan. The final series contains objects and oversize materials of varying types.

Container Summary

Mainly consists of handwritten notes by MHC regarding the genealogy of the Clarke family. Includes xerox copies from genealogical guides and a copy of a pamphlet by an unknown author, "Genealogy of the Clarke Family." Also includes two newsclippings about the family. References to R. L. B. Clarke and Thaddeus Clarke. Also includes 1 ALS from Charles E. Clarke (1815 ?), Major in the Union Army and brother of R. L. B. Clarke, to an Hon. Z. Chandler regarding a promotion in the Army during the Civil War (10 Dec 1862), and an accompanying letter of recommendation for Clarke written to Edwin M. Stanton, Sec'y of War, by W. Wade (14 Jan 1863).
