Container Summary
Manuscript #125: ALS dated July 1 (1 page), from Algernon Charles Swinburne to Lady Henniker Heaton, a remote cousin, declining an invitation. See also Curatorial File and Index Card #125. Footnote in Lang's "The Swinburne Letters" (1962) 6:171: "Born (in 1876) Sermonda Burrell, daughter and heir of the 5th Baron Gwydir. She married John Henniker Heaton (born 1877, he succeeded to the baronetcy in 1914) in 1902. Their son John Victor Peregrine was born Jan. 15, 1903. The basis of the cousinhood was apparently her (remote) kinship with Swinburne's paternal grandmother."
