The collection contains files relating to a wide variety of issues arising from the governance and maintenance of the Panama Canal; chiefly dating from Thompson's service as a member of the House Committee on Merchant Marine and Fisheries and as Chairnian of the Panama Canal tolls sub-committee. It includes correspondence, articles, reports, resolutions, bills, biographical sketches, pamphlets, and other printed materials.
