The John O'Leary Papers contain documents by and about John O'Leary (1947-2005), U.S. Ambassador to Chile from 1998 to 2001 during the Clinton Administration. The collection includes correspondence (much of it by e-mail), photographs, reports, contact lists, and photo albums. There are a few letters from George W. Bush, O'Leary's wife Patricia Cepeda, Bill Clinton, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Janet Reno. Photographs depict Madeleine Albright, Bill Clinton, and many others.

The John O'Leary Papers represent a record of O'Leary's professional and private life. The O'Leary Papers are stored in 10 boxes (11.5 l.f.).

Conditions Governing Access

Most manuscripts collections at the Georgetown University Booth Family Center for Special Collections are open to researchers; however, restrictions may apply to some collections. Collections stored off-site require a minimum of three days for retrieval. For use of all manuscripts collections, researchers are advised to contact the Booth Family Center for Special Collections in advance of any visit.
