Series #8. Empty Envelopes Addressed to Donald Powell from Carl Schmitt, 1963 - 1985., bulk: 1963 - 1985
Scope and Contents note
The Donald Powell Papers 2 represent a portion of the personal papers of Catholic intellectual Donald Powell. Of principal interest is a long run of letters from well renown American painter and teacher Carl Schmitt to Powell, regarding their long friendship, their writings, philosophy, Catholic issues, world events, politics, and mutual aquaintances. A manuscript of Powell's "Bennett Mather" is preserved in tact in this part of his papers. Likewise, many short typed manuscripts by Powell appear among these materials.
The Donald Powell Papers 2 supplement the Donald Powell Papers 1 which are already archived in the Georgetown University Library Booth Family Center for Special Collections. Part 1 of the Donald Powell Papers contains significant correspondence between Powell and several noteworthy individuals, including Dorothy Day and Harry Sylvester.
