Regarding work on the jazz manuscript, publication of Rice's and Jeanie Gleason's collaborative book on cat care, and Gleason's offer to withdraw his name from the authorship of the jazz manuscript: ". . . this whole thing has become so involved and drawn-out and you so obviously feel damaged that I thought the easiest solution was make such an offer to you."
