Contains the photocopies of the book contracts signed by Edward Rice with Pantheon Books, Random House, Inc., and Scholastic Magazines, Inc., together with related correspondence for three works on India in 1970, 8 items. TYP, 4 pages + sales statement [photocopy], 6/24/1970. Signed contract with Pantheon Books, Random House, Inc., for a juvenile work provisionally titled "Gurus" together with a sales summary statement prepared by Pantheon Books. TYP, 7 pages + sales statment [photocopy], 9/21/1970. Signed contract with Scholastic Magazines, Inc., for "The Ganges". TYP, 6 pages + cover letter + sales statement + 1 page addenda [photocopy], 11/11/1970. Original contract signed with Pantheon Books, Random House, Inc., for an untitled work on India together with a rider amending the contract and identifying the title of the proposed work as "Mother India's Children". Cover letter sent by Rice's Literary Agent Phoebe Larmore, John Cushman Associates, Inc., to Fabio Coen of Pantheon Books regarding the amended contract. Sales summary statement prepared by Pantheon Books attached.
