Mentions drafting a message to the Pope, the President of the Federal Council of the Churches of Christ in America, and Rabbi Adler in 1939. Notes that Berle met with Cordell Hull and President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Cardinal Spellman met with Roosevelt, Berle assisted in drafting a telegram from the Apostolic Delegate of the Holy See to the Pope, Spellman met often with Roosevelt, and Roosevelt appointed a special representative to the Vatican.
