Container Summary

1 Autograph Letter Signed (with autograph) dated 12/25/1991 from Richard M. Helms to his son Dennis Helms and his daughter-in-law Meg Helms, reflecting on his career. Having been born in 1913, he realized that he had outlived the Soviet Union. He also noted that there were a number of leaders, including Kaiser Wilhelm, Adolph Hitler, and Joseph Stalin who were defeated in the 20th century. He believes that the U.S. is in a dangerous position even though he Cold War ended because of terrorism, weapons of mass destruction, and the growing scarcity of water in various parts of the world. Sent from Antigua, West Indies to Princeton, New Jersey on the letterhead of the Mill Reef Club, Antigua, West Indies.
