Container Summary

ALS dated 5/2/? from Graham Greene to Shirley Hazzard. 1 page with envelope, + photocopy. An apology from Greene "for my evil temper last night...," at a dinner given by Laetitia Cerio. The incident is related by Hazzard in "Greene on Capri," (2000, pp.134-135), which ascribes the occasion of Greene's outburst to the stress of his involvement in the divorce and child custody proceedings of Martine Cloetta. This letter was probably written during that period from about 1982 through 1986 when the case was more or less resolved (see Sherry, p.656).
