Seven documents, of which six relate to a lawsuit over ownership of a 1776 copy of a South Carolina newspaper, as follows: 1 Autograph Manuscript dated 03/01/2000 from Henry Bartholomew Cox discussing replevin claims over a copy of the Declaration of Independence in Rhode Island; 1 Autograph Manuscript, undated, from Cox describing a legal dispute over the 1776 newsletter involving Virginia manuscript dealer Mark E. Mitchell; 1 Typed Letter Signed dated 10/31/2000 from Diana E. Herzog, R.M. Smythe & Co., Inc., asking whether the Manuscript Society would participate in the Mitchell case (and referring to two documents filed in that case -- 1 Typed Manuscript Signed dated 08/02/2000 from Leon Friedman and Richard Ware Levitt to the United States District Court, Southern District of New York, representing a replevin lawsuit filed by Mitchell; and 1 Typed Manuscript Signed from Lewis A. Kaplan, U.S. District Court judge, consisting of a restraining order against Mitchell and another party in the lawsuit); 1 Typed Letter Signed dated 11/07/2000 from Cox to Herzog saying the Manuscript Society could offer legal or financial help in the Mitchell case; and 1 Typed Letter Signed dated 11/29/2000 from Beryl W. Cohen to Cox regarding five orders in the Mitchell case and asking for support from the Manuscript Society. Attached to this Letter is a similar copy of the 08/02/2000 complaint that was attached to the 10/31/2000 Letter from Herzog to Cox.
