Container Summary
1 Typed Letter from Henry Bartholomew Cox to "Messrs O'Neill, Petersen, Meisner" discussing a book that had been used as a general register for the Lawrence, Massachusetts, Almshouse. Cox asks whether a case could be made that the document was privately owned if it had existed at some point as a public record, and notes that case law tilts heavily toward returning a document that had been a public record to a government agency. Included with this Letter are six documents: 1 Typed Letter Signed dated 07/10/1998 from Robert K. O'Neill, Burns Library, Boston College, to Schumacher-Hardy; 1 Typed Letter dated 05/07/1998 from Schumacher-Hardy to O'Neill; 1 Typed Letter dated 01/15/1998 from Schumacher-Hardy to Lancaster Board of Selectmen; 1 Autograph Manuscript of a petition for the annual town meeting of Lancaster; 1 Typed Manuscript of a flyer for an issue before the town meeting regarding the Almshouse Book; and a Typed Letter Signed dated 05/06/1998 from Schumacher.
