Container Summary
1 Autograph Manuscript from Henry Bartholomew Cox to the Manuscript Society, dated approximately 12/28/1979, articulating the society's position that manuscripts or public documents should not be taken from manuscript collectors by government agencies unless the agency can provide proof of theft or absence. Cox also states that society members support the "widest possible dissemination" of public documents -- whether held by public agencies or private individuals -- for educational and cultural use. This Manuscript contains several edits made throughout in Cox's handwriting, as well as a short note on the cover page concerning revisions suggested by Richie Maass.
