1 Typed Letter dated 08/05/1979 from Henry Bartholomew Cox to Mattie U. Russell, informing Russell that the state of New Jersey may initiate a replevin action for a set of colonial acts offered for sale by a private manuscript dealer and an auction house. Cox also notes that the state did not attempt to undertake a replevin action for a separate set of colonial acts acquired by Rutgers University in 1978. Cox stresses the need for groups to resolve replevin issues surrounding the private ownership of public papers in order to minimize the potential for legal action.
