Container Summary
1 Autograph Manuscript, undated, from Henry Bartholomew Cox outlining how B.C. West, Jr., contacted the North Carolina Division of Archives and History to notify them of a 1790 letter from George Washington that was offered for sale by a New York auction house (Sotheby Parke-Bernet, referred to by Cox as "P-B"). Cox thought West's notification provided an ironic origin for the West case, as the state, while seeking to claim the Washington letter and locate other estranged public documents, came across the Hooper indictments.
