Includes his early life and experience in the Peace Corps in Peru, 1965-67; with USAID in Nigeria, 1968-71; in Korea, 1970-72; with the Regional Economic Development Support Office in East Africa, 1972-77; on sabbatical at the University of Kentucky, 1977-78; as Head of Agriculture Planning and Analysis in USAID in Egypt, 1978; as Agricultural Officer in Zimbabwe, 1981-84; with the Africa Bureau in Washington, 1984; and in Indonesia as Head of Agriculture and Rural Development, 1988-92.
