Container Summary

Monahan, Michael. 6 Autograph Letters Signed dated 1909-1914 from Michael Monahan, an Irish born American author and editor. He wrote poetry, essays, and biographies. He was also the editor of the "Papyrus" and the "Phoenix." The letters are addressed to a woman whom Monahan calls Lady Bountiful, Madonna, and the Lady of Mill Valley (California). In one of the letters Monahan tells his friend that he has dedicated a section of his book "At the Sign of the Van" (1914) to her, "the Lady of Mill Valley." Monahan's correspondent is probably the author Kathleen Norris. In these letters, Monahan talks mostly about books that he is working on and also about editing the "Papyrus" and the "Phoenix."
