Mentions being at anchor off Santa Barbara [California], visiting a cathedral there, stopping in San Diego, traveling towards the Hawaiian Islands, dropping anchor outside of Honolulu harbor, King Kamehameha III, the Queen, Captain James Cook, missionaries, impressions of Hawaii, the King being fond of ten pins (bowling), the prospects of the U.S. annexing Hawaii, and a diplomatic dinner.
