1 Autographed Letter Signed dated 09/24/1879 from Julian Hawthorne to Francis Bennoch providing details of his ownership of two properties, in Chicago and in Brooklyn, and how he came to own them. He asks Bennoch about the possibility of these properties being liquidated in bankruptcy in an English court, and whether he might be able to borrow money on them to pay his debts as a preferable solution. Reference to his sisters, Una Hawthorne and Rose Hawthorne Lathrop, the copyrights of Nathaniel Hawthorne, Russell Sturgis, William G. Peckham, and his brother-in-law, John Amelung. Sent from Hastings, England.
