1 Autographed Letter Signed dated 04/18/1879 from Julian Hawthorne to Francis Bennoch reporting his lack of income for more than a month and the poor state of his mortgages in America, which he is not able to sell. He mentions that he is finishing a novel for Charles Dickens, Jr. and will soon be continuing work on "Two Old Boys", and explains why he is unable to move to London. He also mentions his neighbor, Coventry Patmore, with whom he has become friends. Reference to his brother-in-law John Amelung, William G. Peckham, and Alexander Strahan.
