Container Summary

1 Autographed Letter Signed dated 12/16/1878 from Julian Hawthorne to Francis Bennoch informing him of news regarding his assets in America and his ability to settle his debts and those of his deceased sister, Una Hawthorne. He discusses his difficulty finding time to write novels when he is forced to write short fiction to cover his daily expenses. He states that as soon as his wife, May ("Minne") Hawthorne, has recovered from illness, they will attempt to move into London. Reference to his brother-in-law, John Amelung, Russell Sturgis, bankruptcy, "International Correspondence", his five children, and Mrs. Bennoch. Sent from Hastings, England.
