1 Autographed Letter Signed dated 08/24/1878 from Julian Hawthorne to Francis Bennoch responding to a message from him which communicated his criticism of Hawthorne's stay in Etretat while his friends continue to manage his affairs. He expresses the anguish caused him by this criticism, admits the unseemliness of his trip, and offers explanation in defense of his actions. Reference to Twickenham, James Martin, Henry F. Gillig, William G. Peckham, May ("Minne") Hawthorne, the Hawthorne children. Sent from Etretat, France.
