Container Summary

1 Autographed Letter Signed dated 12/14/1876 from Julian Hawthorne to Francis Bennoch wishing him better health and informing him of his wife's recovery from miscarriage. He explains that he has postponed work on his novel "Garth" in order to write "pot-boilers", one of which he has submitted to "The Graphic" weekly magazine. He adds, at the top of the letter, that correspondence from Mrs. Bennoch to Una Hawthorne has just arrived and sends their regards and news of Rose Hawthorne Lathrop's illness. Reference to Rose Hawthorne Lathrop's confinement, May ("Minne") Hawthorne, and Julian Hawthorne's children. Sent from Way's End, Twickenham, England.
