He asks about Bennoch's tour of Europe and mentions the publication of his last installment of "Saxon Studies". Reference to Alexander Strahan, Mr. Cottier?, his mother-in-law Mary Mildred Amelung, Christie's auction house, the National Gallery in London, Mrs. Bennoch, Dresden, his sister Una Hawthorne, "Saxon Studies", the "Contemporary Review", his wife May ("Minne") Hawthorne, and his son John Francis Bennoch Hawthorne.
