1 Autograph Letter Signed dated 10/29/1862 to Brother and Sisters. Describing "travels to Harper's Ferry as a prisoner and how I got away": sent out of camp by captain to get loaf of bread, arrested at General Fitz John Porter's Headquarters for being outside the camp without a pass, sent to Harper's Ferry for 30 days to build fortifications on bread and water, escaped across the Potomac River, got rides in several wagons to return back to camp. References Sharpsburgh, London Heights, Sandy Hook. Sent from Camp Wadsworth, Washington, DC. Includes original envelope addressed to John Pollard, Main Street, Woonsocket, RI.
