Describing possibility of owning pigs to be fed on the food waste of Mount Pleasant Hospital, good opportunity for his brother to raise cows in the area to make money and avoid possible draft. 2. References injury of a friend, plan to get miniature portrait taken. Enclosed Confederate stamps "as a curiosity" (not included). 3. Describing sleeping conditions, guarding Depot and Baltimore Railroad. Requesting to be sent a newspaper from Providence, RI. 4. Describing family matters including estrangement from wife, erection of more tents for the sick, expectation of battle around Washington (DC).
