Total of 5 ALS (with 1 envelope) from George Richey to his wife Adelaide Richey. 1 ALS dated 3/25/1917 Richey describes a close-up attack by a German patrol on the front line trenches. One man, Serg Otto, was taken prisoner. Richey reports that the battalion has only had 5 casualties. Reference to Col. Berry. 1 ALS dated 3/27/1917 1 ALS dated 3/29/1917 Reference to General Harry MacAndrew, Clive Wigram. Reference to Cheyne, who "is commanding the D.L.I. and during the S.A. war commanded a squadron in Kitchener's Horse. He belongs to the 8th Bengal Cavalry." 1 ALS dated 3/30/1917 "It is pretty cold and wet and parts of my line are more than knee deep in liquid." Reference to Jack Farrol, Frank Brown. Richey writes, "My letter is bound to get disjointed now as the Huns are shelling all round my house which is unprotected." 1 envelope dated 3/31/1917 1 ALS dated 3/31/1917 Richey makes a list of his allowances. "We are now doing 12 days in the trenches and 4 out." Reference to Mrs. Howeson.
