5 ALS from Michael Richey to his parents written aboard the H.M.S. Pelican. *from Richey's notes: "Pelican was a Bird Class Sloop, Senior Officer of the 7th Escort Group, based on Greenock when I joined (as group navigator) engaged for the most part in anti-submarine sweeps rather than convoy escort duties. After D-day in Europe Pelican led in a convoy of American troops on the first day. The ship was posted to the Far East, but en-route was diverted to Taranto in Italy for an engine re-fit." Reference to Paul Richey.
