Container Summary

5 ALS from Michael Richey to his parents written from Downside School. Reference to Hubert Van Zeller. In these letters Richey is writing about considering becoming a monk. *from Richey's notes: "I write home about entering a monastery (although not Downside). Mount St. Bernard and Caldey, which I had in mind and visited, were both Cistercian (Trappist)." The letter written March 22nd (1935) has reference to Eric Gill, Edmond Howard, Christopher Dawson. *from Richey's notes: "Edmond Howard was later Lord Howard of Penrith, closely associated with Bernard and Barbara Wall, 'The Colliseum.'" The letter of May 13th, 1935 has reference to Rudie, Dom Rudisind Brookes who *Richey notes was "another powerful influence" at Downside.
