Container Summary

5 TLS from Lord Shackleton to Michael Richey dated 11/4/1977, 11/18/1977, 12/2/1977, 12/20/1977, and 1/3/1978 regarding sources of energy and the world's population. These letters contain reference to Paul Sieghart and Barbara Ward. 1 TL (carbon copy) dated 12/12/1977 from Michael Richey to Lord Shackleton. *From Richey's notes: "Letters (all from 6 St. James's Square) from Lord Shackleton about nuclear energy. Eddy Shackleton, son of the polar explorer, Sir Ernest Shackleton (whose wife, it so happens, was a friend of my mother's when I was tiny) was at the time of the correspondence a director of Rio Tinto and I think Leader of the Labour peers in the House of Lords. He was a member of Parliament for many years and at one time Minister for Air. I don't seem to have kept my own letters."
